Over the years, Memorial Day has become the unofficial start to summer. But what does Memorial Day really represent?

It’s a federal holiday where Americans pause to commemorate all men and women who have died in military service for the United States. Traditionally American flags are flown at half-staff from dawn until noon.

Many towns in America hold parades, special memorial commemorations, and fantastic fireworks displays.

It’s great to see everyone in their Red, White and Blue outfits, showing their patriotism!

The service will continue at William Wilt Soccer Complex around 9:30 a.m. where another rifle salute will occur.  “Taps” will be played. There will be laying of wreaths at William Wilt’s stone and the veteran’s stone with a short prayer before each one.

Service will conclude at Richwood United Methodist Church (intersection of Route 322 and Richwood Road) at 10 a.m. There the flag will be raised and lowered, a rifle salute will be done and “Taps” will be played.

Reflect and remember those who sacrificed their lives.

Memorial Day is a special day to honor our fallen soldiers.

The United States of America would not be the great country that it is without the sacrifices of the soldiers that lost their lives for our Freedom.

Keeping that in mind and teaching our younger generations about the meaning of Memorial Day preserves that meaning through the generations, and creates beautiful family traditions, year after year.

However you decide to spend your Memorial Day in South Jersey, I hope that you take a moment to reflect and remember what it means, and enjoy it to its fullest.

From everyone at Nancy Kowalik Real Estate Group, have a wonderful Memorial Day!
