Have you heard about MOTUS at Rowan University? You should know MOTUS is designed to be the best tournament sports venue in the USA, and supply top quality athletic facilities for the Rowan University Athletic Department.

The athletic center is anticipated to include:

• 8 baseball diamonds
• A softball field
• Spectator seating
• 15 artificial turf multipurpose fields
• 40 natural turf fields
• 120 thousand square foot indoor sports hall that includes:
  • An indoor athletic track
  • Permanent student locker facility
  • 45 thousand square foot rowan athletic building
  • Outdoor athletic track
  • 10 tennis courts
  • 340 room hotel
  • 5 thousand seat multipurpose area
  • 6 thousand square foot retail space which will be predominantly food, but will also have a large sports pub, and over 5 thousand parking spaces.

This is going to be out at Route 55 & 322, right across from the Inspira project. This project is in a public and private partnership with Rowan University. Comcast-Spectecore is going to be doing the facilities management and delivery of food and beverage.

There is a soccer tournament company called EDP Soccer, as well as Perfect Game a company who handles baseball and softball tournaments, that will participate in the project. There are many different private and public partners to pull this project together.

Local Benefits

Bottom line is that it is going to be a huge boom to South Jersey, with over a million visitors to the project annually for a two day stay or longer. Over 300 full time jobs will be part of this as well as 300 part time jobs.

The overall economic benefit to south Jersey is expected to be $200 Million and that includes hotel, restaurant, & retail spends.

We are very blessed that we will get to see some of the benefits of this here in Harrison township as the entry to this project is actually on Harrison township soil.

The bulk of the project is in Mantua, but it’s a great again partnership between the communities because without us they cannot have the face of this beautiful project called MOTUS at Rowan University.
